Apple Beach

The beach at the mouth of the river Apple show on the foreground of this picture taken on Christmas Eve, 1997 by afreitas@pasteur.fr became a seaside resort in the 1890s

It reached its peak in the 1950s, when a sea water swimming pool was built,

then was taken over by Big Beach.

Some say it is now experiencing a renaissance...
In early January, 2002, it was over 1 meter higher and at low tide extended some 200 meters North in the direction of Mindelo, which was then back to its normal appearance.
